As you get to know my story through my classes, workshops or my writings, you will find similarities in life experiences that might invoke a sense of déjà vu!
I found my roots in yoga and meditation at a young age, watching my father do his daily yoga and breathing practices in India and maintain discipline even as he traveled across the world. However, my own journey began many years ago, in an effort to find mental and physical well-being and exploring a manageable work-life balance. With the loss of my mother in 2012, the pressures of work as a biologist & researcher and my intention to raise my boys with perfection, the negative effects of stress consumed me. Physically, I experienced weight gain, digestive and sleep issues and mentally, I was distracted and restless.
Physical, mental and emotional wellness requires constant self-reflection. With passing time, it dawned on me that balance in life would come with a shift in my perceptions about life's challenges. This is when yoga presented itself! Change in attitude came with self-discipline, guidance from knowledgeable teachers and my willingness to move the needle to a positive mindset.
Yoga became my refuge, offering physical, emotional and mental flexibility. Since then, understanding yoga and it's ancient teachings has helped me grow both in my yoga practice and personal life. As my foundation in yoga is deepening, new doors have opened. I am now advancing my knowledge in Ayurveda, the ancient system of holistic well-being and other modalities of healing.
Life is full of mysteries that unfold when we become curious. I keep my inquisitiveness alive by reading, traveling, exploring cultures and engaging in diverse conversations. I am blogger, storyteller, wanderer at heart, artist and an aspiring Veena player (Indian classical instrument).
